It's been a long time in the making but Cannibals and Carpet Fitters the movie is nearly here!

Above is the, just launched, official movie poster for the film. As a lot of you know I have been working on the project for the past 5 years so it's finally nice to see it starting to come together. 2016 was a crazy year but the year we actually took the right steps to get the movie off the ground. I had just became a Dad and decided to take a break from actively seeking more acting work to concentrate on the new member of my family and also as the writer and producer of Cannibals & Carpet Fitters give it the attention it deserves.

we did it

Back in April 2016 myself and James Bushe had set up our own production company CACF Film Ltd and just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise some initial funds for the film. We were unsuccessful the first time round, I put this down to our inexperience with crowdfunding and probably trying to hit too much of a high target. However second time lucky we raised over £12,000 via the crowdfunding platform smashing our £10k goal. We were lucky that the first campaign had given us a solid audience of fans that wanted this movie, willing to back again. It also caught the attention of some private backers that were willing to invest in the movie to raise the funds we needed to create the feature film. One thing I can take from Kickstarter, whether you are successful or not it's a great marketing tool. We knew that it was now or never to make this film and we had to make a decision, we could sit around on arses waiting for a miracle, try and raise more money and wait even longer, or try and do the best we could with the budget we had. It had already been 2 years since the short film that got us noticed and did so well had been seen, we didn't want to wait any longer, it was time to shoot!

June came around and we were well into pre-production aiming at our first shooting date towards the end of July. It was an experience like no other producing your own feature film, being involved in practically every decsion from re-writes, location hunting, casting (thank you Barbara French by the way, excellent casting choices) and not trying to lose sight of what you are creating. Myself and James wanted full creative control, which is why we took on the producers role in the first place, we knew what we wanted to deliver and were lucky enough to get an amazing cast and crew on board that shared our vision and supported the movie. I thank everyone of you for being part of this.

We shot most of the film over the summer and finished off the year in November in the deep, creepy caves under the streets of Nottingham. We just have 4 days to pick up in March and that's it in the can! Already an assembly edited with what we have shot has been completed and we are now at the stages of producing a trailer ready for the European Film Market in Berlin this year.

Fingers crossed people like what they see. I can't wait to share this film with the world and I know this is the year we all finally get to sit down and watch this movie.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, not to sound cheesy but dreams really can... yeah actually that does sound cheesey, I'l leave it at thanks.

  • "Richard had the ability to understand his character from day one of filming and has made it his own. With some very strong performances, not only comical, but also emotionally, Richard has been one of the easiest and most talented actors I have had the pleasure of working with. Reliable, on and off set, I hope to be able to work with him again in the near future."

Steve Best, Director of Zombie Hood

  • "Richard was an absolute pleasure to work with on "Deception". Very professional, patient, considerate and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to others."
